About us

Zuliana de Aviación was a Venezuelan airline that is now extinct. It began its operations in 1985 exclusively with cargo service but later the passenger service was added. Zuliana took its name from the demonym of the inhabitants of the Zulia State and its base of operations was centered on the La Chinita International Airport located in Maracaibo, the capital city of that state.

Within its fleet, it kept in service 3 Douglas DC8-50 for its cargo operations, 2 Boeing 727-200 and 5 DC9-30 for passenger service. In 1997 Zuliana canceled its operations and by 2002 the entire fleet was completely disincorporated, however some aircraft can still be seen at La Chinita Airport. In April 2005, on the 20th anniversary of its foundation, a group of virtual flight enthusiasts, under the initiative of Angel van Delden, met in Maracaibo and founded the Zuliana de Aviación Virtual airline as a tribute to the extinct flagship of the state. Among the founding members were José Antonio Yepes, Rafael Leal, Heberto Bracho, Héctor Morillo and Héctor Partidas Reyes.

Zuliana Virtual officially began its operations in May 2005 and in April 2012 it was certified by IVAO, thus becoming one of the pioneers in Venezuela. Our Vision is to become one of the best Virtual Airlines in Latin America and for this we have been and continue to work hard to achieve our goal. Zuliana de Aviación Virtual warmly welcomes those virtual pilots who love this activity and who are willing to work hard to reach the goal we have set for ourselves.
